Section 144 Pakistan: New Restrictions Announced in Islamabad and Rawalpindi

Section 144 Pakistan has been operational in Islamabad and Rawalpindi as the government takes action to avert unrest during PTI demonstrations. The orders limit meetings, protests, and mass demonstrations. These actions are motivated by security considerations and Sindh has already prolonged Section 144.

Authorities have activated Section 144 Pakistan in Islamabad and Rawalpindi to control public gatherings and maintain order. The action is based on intelligence reports that there is a risk of unrest associated with planned PTI protests.

Islamabad Under Section 144 Pakistan Until January 18, 2026

The Islamabad Capital Territory will enforce Section 144 Pakistan for two months. The order prohibits gatherings of five or more people, rallies, and demonstrations at all public places, including the Red Zone. Rawalpindi Implements Short-Term Section 144 Pakistan

Section 144 Pakistan has been declared for three days, December 1-3, 2025. The order prohibits all gatherings of five or more people, demonstrations, rallies and sit-ins. Other restrictions also encompass disarmament, weapon exhibition, pillion sitting on two-wheelers and a loud speaker. Officials refer to the threat of imminent disturbances to law and order in and around sensitive installations.

The most recent enforcement on the Section 144 Pakistan was following the announcement of protests by PTI outside of Adiala Jail and the Islamabad High Court. Members of the party are requesting to meet Imran Khan due to refused permission to court. The authorities seek to stop the disorder and guarantee people safety, predicting the potential violent events.

Governments encourage people to adhere to the orders of Section 144 Pakistan, not to gather, and be informed by the authorities. The emphasis is made on the safety of the people and unrest aversion in case of the political tension aborting.
