Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar ordered Shaheen Air to compensate stranded passengers.
Shaheen Air compensates stranded passengers as CJP Saqib Nisar led the hearing on the suo motu notice today. Earlier, the apex court ordered Shaheen Air to bring back all stranded passengers till Monday and to provide them fair compensation.
Saqib Nisar remarked that passengers suffered the mental strain due to airline and asked Shaheen Air compensates stranded passengers. However, airline’s CEO remarked that they can pay Rs 5 million in compensation and also asked the court to analyze amount for that purpose.
In reply, Saqib Nisar remarked that Shaheen Air compensates stranded passengers with Rs 0.1 million each. The CEO accused CAA for the situation and said that he will consult with company’s finance department in this regard. He further added that the airline had borne the expenses of passengers.
Saqib Nisar ordered CEO Shaheen Air to inform the court till 20th August that how much compensation they would pay. He also ordered CEO to inform the court in written form about its dispute with Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
The next hearing is scheduled on 20th August.
