Shortage of Water Sparks Protests in Karachi And Hyderabad

Shortage of water has sparked protests in the cities of Karachi and Hyderabad. Taps run dry and water is short, authority blames others.

People of the city of Karachi have shown discontent over the shortage of water. They said that the online service to order water tankers seems to not be working. The phones to the Karachi Water and Sewage Board (KWSB) are going busy according to people. The people in reaction have taken a protest outside the Karachi Sewage and Water Board.

The spokesperson for waterboard has said we are working on making the situation better. Rizwan Haider, the spokesperson for waterboard said that the cause for not being able to receive call is electricity outage. He said that due to the outage computer operators cannot work on their systems.

While people of Karachi who are going through fierce heat have been deprived of water and electricity, matters seem worst for Hyderabad. The city has load shedding of more than 8 to 12 hours a day in major areas of the city. The hot gust is burning people’s skin and over that there is no water in the taps of people. Pakistan Peoples Party is staging protests against Water Center.

With no water in taps and sweltering heat, people who are fasting are suffering the most. They are not only deprived of electricity but cannot even cool themselves down because of shortage of water. The government seems to be taking no action against the water authorities to provide relief for the people.
