Sindh Government Bans Daytime Entry of Dumpers in Karachi Due to Safety Concerns: New Timings Update 2025

The Sindh government bans daytime entry of dumpers in Karachi due to safety concerns. This decision comes after alarming statistics revealed that, within the first 40 days of 2025 alone, 112 people lost their lives, and 216 were injured in traffic accidents—many of which involved these heavy vehicles.

New Timings for Dumper Trucks in Karachi

Effective immediately, dumper trucks are now restricted from entering Karachi during the daytime. They are only allowed to operate within city limits between 11:00 PM and 6:00 AM. This new regulation aims to reduce the risk of accidents involving these large trucks during peak traffic hours, when the risk to public safety is most significant.

To ensure compliance with this new rule and enhance road safety, the Sindh transport department has introduced a “Road Checking Committee”. The committee is responsible for inspecting dumper trucks and water tankers, checking route permits, fitness certificates, and driver licenses to ensure all vehicles adhere to the Motor Vehicle Ordinance of 1965 and Motor Vehicle Rules of 1969.

This move is expected to curb the number of illegal and unregistered vehicles contributing to the problem. The crackdown on illegal dumper trucks will see immediate action, with the authorities ordering the seizure of such vehicles found to be operating without proper registration or permits.

Crackdown on Illegal Dumpers and Collaboration with Traffic Police

In addition to restricting dumper timings, Mukesh Kumar Chawla, the Sindh Minister for Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control, has emphasized a coordinated effort between authorities to address the issue of unregistered vehicles. His orders include the seizure of illegal dumper trucks in Karachi, and he is working closely with the traffic police to enforce the new regulations effectively.

The primary objective behind these measures is to enhance road safety in Karachi and prevent further accidents caused by dumper trucks. With the Sindh government banning daytime entry of dumpers in Karachi due to safety concerns, residents and commuters can expect safer roads, particularly during high-traffic hours.

These actions reflect the government’s commitment to improving public safety by tackling the growing issue of accidents caused by heavy vehicles. With strict enforcement of the new operational timings and enhanced vehicle inspections, the authorities hope to see a significant reduction in the number of fatalities and injuries in the city.
