Sukkur: Chief Minister Sindh, Murad Ali Shah, has announced that the provincial government will distribute an additional 500,000 solar systems among low-income households this year. The initiative aims to provide sustainable energy solutions and alleviate the burden of electricity costs for the underprivileged.
200,000 Solar Systems Under BISP
Speaking in Sukkur, Murad Ali Shah stated that the Sindh government had already decided to distribute 200,000 solar systems under the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP). Out of these, 50,000 units have already arrived, while the remaining will be delivered soon.
Bilawal Bhutto’s Directives for Additional Solar Systems
The Chief Minister further revealed that, under the directives of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, an additional 500,000 solar systems will be distributed this year. This initiative is part of the government’s broader efforts to promote renewable energy and improve the quality of life for economically disadvantaged communities.
Karachi Waste-to-Energy Project
During the announcement, Murad Ali Shah also highlighted a waste-to-energy project in Karachi. He stated that the government is collecting 15,000 tons of garbage daily, which will be utilized to generate 50 megawatts of electricity. This project aims to address waste management issues while contributing to the city’s energy needs.
