Transport and Mass Transit Minister Shergil Inam Memom announced a groundbreaking initiative that will revolutionize public transportation in Sindh. The introduction of environment-friendly electric taxis expected to have a significant impact on both the economy and the environment.
Minister Memom highlighted the numerous benefits of this initiative, emphasizing the potential for billions of rupees in fuel savings. By transitioning to electric taxis, the government aims to provide the public with affordable travel options while reducing their carbon footprint.

One of the key aspects of this plan is the creation of job opportunities for unemployed youth. Female drivers will specifically recruited for pink taxis, empowering women and promoting gender equality in the transportation sector. Moreover, dedicated charging and parking depots will established to support the smooth operation of electric taxis.
In another remarkable development, Minister Memom announced the government’s decision to procure 500 new buses in the upcoming fiscal year. This move aims to enhance public transportation facilities and cater to the growing needs of the population.
To expedite these improvements, the government has set a deadline of June 15 to acquire an additional 20 buses. Furthermore, the provincial transport minister directed the immediate deployment of all buses from the People’s Bus Service in Karachi, ensuring improved accessibility for the public. The minister stressed the importance of trial runs for new routes within three days, particularly benefiting residents in rural areas who will now have access to affordable travel options.

In a bid to streamline and optimize the public transportation system, Minister Memom proposed the integration of Orange Line, Green Line, and Red Line buses. This strategic alignment will simplify travel and enable commuters to switch between different lines seamlessly.
Lastly, the minister instructed the commencement of a new route for the People’s Bus Service, connecting Hattar to Khisana Mori in Hyderabad. This expansion will further improve transportation connectivity and foster economic growth in the region.
With these progressive initiatives, the Sindh government aims to create a greener, more efficient, and more inclusive transportation network, transforming the lives of its citizens while preserving the environment.
