The Sindh government has announced a major reform in the heavy transport vehicle (HTV) licensing process. A 30-hour training course has been made mandatory for obtaining a heavy driving license across the province.
The decision was taken during a Sindh Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. As part of the new policy, the minimum age limit for applying for an HTV license has been reduced from 24 years to 22 years, making it easier for younger drivers to enter the heavy transport industry after proper training.
30-Hour HTV Training Now Compulsory
Under the new rules, all applicants seeking a heavy driving license in Sindh will have to complete 30 hours of professional training. This step is aimed at improving road safety and ensuring that only skilled drivers operate heavy transport vehicles.
Automated Penalty System and Strict Fines Introduced
Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah also revealed that an automated traffic violation penalty system will be introduced soon. The new system will allow immediate action on traffic violations, enhancing law enforcement efficiency.
Additionally, the CM warned that repeated violations involving tinted windows could result in fines up to Rs. 300,000, reflecting the government’s commitment to stricter traffic regulation.
Special Traffic Courts to Be Established
To further streamline traffic-related legal matters, the Sindh Cabinet has approved the formation of special traffic courts. These courts will help expedite the resolution of traffic cases and ensure timely justice.
