The Sindh government has officially extended the deadline for vehicle owners to switch to the Sindh new number plate with the Ajrak-themed design. The updated deadline is now May 3, 2025, giving vehicle owners an additional month beyond the original cut-off date of April 3, 2025.
The extension comes in light of the recent Eidul Fitr holidays, which delayed formal announcements and issuance of related notifications. However, government sources have confirmed that an official notification regarding this extension will be released within the next two days.
The Sindh new number plate, designed with the iconic Ajrak pattern, features advanced security elements and is now mandatory for all vehicles across the province — including motorcycles, cars, and commercial vehicles. The initiative is part of a broader government effort to enhance vehicle identification, ensure road safety, and curb vehicle-related crimes through better regulation.
According to officials from the excise department, Sindh has around 7 million registered vehicles, all of which are required to transition to the Sindh new number plate system. Authorities are treating this project as a top priority, emphasizing its importance in modernizing traffic systems and improving overall vehicle management in the province.
Officials have warned that after the May 3 deadline, strict action will be taken against non-compliant vehicles. This includes confiscation of vehicles with old plates and heavy fines imposed on owners who fail to comply with the updated law.
Vehicle owners are strongly encouraged to apply for the Sindh new number plate before the new deadline to avoid penalties and ensure their vehicle records are updated in line with the latest security standards.
