In celebration of the 555th birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the Federal Government of Pakistan has announced the issuance of a special commemorative coin worth Rs. 55. This coin, set to released on November, 2024, by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), marks a significant milestone in honoring the founder of Sikhism and his immense contribution to humanity.

The commemorative coin, with a weight of 13.5 grams and a diameter of 30 mm, made from a blend of metals: 79% copper, 20% zinc, and 1% nickel. The front face of the coin showcases a crescent moon with a five-pointed star rising above it, symbolizing the guiding light of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The star faces northwest, adding a symbolic directional element.

Along the edge of the coin, the words “Islamic Republic of Pakistan” inscribed in Urdu, and the year of issuance “2024” appears below the crescent moon, positioned between two wheat stalks, emphasizing the connection to the agrarian culture of the region.

Commemorative Design

On the reverse side, the coin features an image of the memorial dedicated to Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, a tribute to his legacy. Above the memorial, the inscription “555th Birthday Celebrations” marks the milestone, while the name “SRI GURU NANAK DEV JI” appears below. Additionally, the years “1469-2024” engraved along the lower edge of the coin, representing the duration since Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s birth.
