A complete strike in Karachi on 26 April 2025 has been officially announced by several trader associations following the appeal made by the Ameer of Jamaat e Islami Pakistan. In a joint press conference held at New Karachi Mobile Market, Jamaat e Islami Karachi leader Munim Zafar Khan confirmed full support for the planned business shutdown.
The press conference was attended by key members of different market unions and business groups who pledged to close all shops and commercial activities on the day of the strike. This move comes as part of a larger campaign led by the party for humanitarian solidarity.
According to Munim Zafar Khan, this Jamaat e Islami strike aims to unite the people and send a strong peaceful message. He said that traders from areas like North Karachi and Surjani have responded positively and will fully participate in the shutdown.
The call for the Jamaat e Islami protest Karachi has gained further momentum as representatives of the Sarafa Market, Federal B Area Association of Traders and Industry, and other major market leaders also announced their participation.
The business community has welcomed the peaceful protest, emphasizing unity and collective responsibility in standing up for global concerns. Speaking during the event, Munim Zafar also thanked all business owners for their cooperation and encouraged others to follow suit.
He further highlighted that this movement is not only limited to Karachi. “On 26 April, the entire country will be echoing one voice,” he said, encouraging a nationwide demonstration of solidarity through peaceful means like market closures and product boycotts.
