Supreme Court Reinstated Appeal of Sharif Family Mills Case

The Supreme Court has reinstated the Sharif family’s appeal challenging a Lahore High Court decision to shut three sugar mills which are believed to be assets of Sharif Family.

Due to the initial absence of Ittefaq Sugar Mills counsel, Salman Akram Raja, the court had dismissed the appeal. However, the counsel arrived in the courtroom before a written order regarding the dismissal of the appeal was signed. The counsel for Ittefaq Sugar Mills requested the court to restore the appeal.

Advising Salman Akram Raja against appearing late for a hearing, Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar said no exceptions would be made if he appeared late again. Raja replied to the comment of CJP by saying that he would not ask for any exceptions either if he did appear late again.
