In a concerning development, the price of eggs has skyrocketed to an unprecedented level, reaching 420 rupees per dozen across the country. This surge in egg prices is reported to be the highest in history, as disclosed by the Statistics Bureau.
According to the latest figures released by the Bureau of Statistics, the average price of eggs has surged to 420 rupees per dozen. Distinct variations are observed in different regions, with Sialkot recording prices at 410 rupees per dozen. In cities such as Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Larkana, and Multan, consumers are facing the impact of soaring egg prices, with rates hitting 400 rupees per dozen.
The Statistics Bureau highlights that even in areas like Quetta and Bannu, the price per dozen stands at 400 rupees, while in Khuzdar and Sukkur, eggs are available at a slightly lower price of 390 rupees per dozen.
Furthermore, major metropolitan areas such as Karachi, Bahawalpur, and Hyderabad are witnessing eggs being retailed at 380 rupees per dozen. In Lahore, the official government-regulated price is reported to be 364 rupees per dozen; however, local vendors are selling eggs at even higher prices.
