As Eidul-Adha 2024 approaches, the Punjab Home Department has unveiled a series of measures to ensure a safe and convenient holiday for all. To maintain order, only registered charities will be authorized to collect sacrificial hides, effectively barring any banned groups from participation. The department has also declared the enforcement of Section 144 to prevent the public burning of animal remains, promoting a cleaner environment during the festivities.
In addition, the government has placed a temporary ban on swimming and boating in all water bodies to avoid accidents. Security protocols have been ramped up at Eidgahs, mosques, and madrasas to provide a secure environment for worshippers. The same level of vigilance extends to cattle markets, where strict measures will prevent any unauthorized transactions or collections.
The administration is also taking proactive steps to manage the expected surge of tourists in popular destinations like Murree and the Galyat regions, with plans to control traffic and maintain public order.
In an innovative effort to modernize the tradition of sacrificial offerings, the Punjab government has introduced an online portal for the purchase of animals. This digital marketplace features detailed listings of available livestock, complete with images and essential information, making the selection process more accessible and transparent.
