Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori announced the allocation of 80-square-yard plots to each family affected by the Lyari building collapse that took place on July 4, 2025, in Karachi. The incident resulted in 27 deaths and displaced multiple residents.
During his visit to the collapse site in Lyari’s Baghdadi area, Tessori confirmed that the victims’ families would also receive six months’ rent support and temporary housing arrangements within the same locality until the plots are formally allotted.

The governor also committed to providing ration packs, employment support, and dedicated helpline services (1133), especially assisting families from the Hindu community impacted by the tragedy.
The Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) has declared more buildings in Lyari unsafe. Evacuation operations have begun, and a demolition drive is underway to prevent similar incidents.
