The National Highway Authority (NHA) has announced a sharp hike in toll taxes for highways and motorways across Pakistan, with an increase of around 30%. This change will kick in on October 1 and affect all types of vehicles.
The biggest impact will be on those traveling on the Islamabad to Peshawar Motorway (M-1), where tolls for cars will jump from Rs350 to Rs460. Wagons will now have to pay Rs720 instead of Rs550, and buses will see a rise from Rs1,000 to Rs1,300. Truck drivers aren’t spared either, as their toll will rise from Rs1,500 to Rs1,950.
Other key routes like the Lahore to Abdul Hakeem (M-3), Pindi Bhattian to Faisalabad (M-4), and Dera Ismail Khan to Hakla (M-14), along with the Mansehra Expressway, will also be affected by the 30% hike.
On national highways, the toll for cars is going up from Rs40 to Rs50. Wagons will now be charged Rs90, and buses will pay Rs170. Trucks with two or three axles will be charged Rs210, while articulated trucks will face a toll of Rs460.
Additional toll plazas like the Kohat Tunnel (N-55), the Islamabad to Murree Kohala Highway (N-75), and the Mianwali to Muzaffargarh route (N-135) are also implementing the new rates.
This increase is expected to boost revenue for the NHA, which is responsible for maintaining and improving the country’s road network.
