The police have released a traffic plan for IDEAS 2018 which will be for four-days set to begin in Karachi on 27 November.
International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS) 2018 will start on Tuesday after a grand inauguration ceremony and will continue till November 30, 2018.
According to security officials, over 300 traffic policemen will be deployed around the exhibition venue as per the traffic plan for IDEAS 2018.
University Road will be open for traffic throughout the four-day exhibition. However, traffic from Hassan Square to the National Stadium will be closed from 7am on November 27. Hassan Square Flyover will be closed, while the roads from Dalmia to Karsaz and New Town will remain open but the Hassan Square Flyover will be closed.
Traffic coming from Liaquatabad will be diverted towards University Road. To avoid traffic, motorists are advised to use Sharae Pakistan, Sharae Faisal, Rashid Minhas Road and Shaheed-e-Millat.
As per the traffic plan for IDEAS 2018, heavy traffic will not be allowed to use the road from Nipa to Millennium Mall and Karsaz to Hassan Square. Parking around the Expo Centre is not allowed and residents of the area will only be allowed to enter by showing their ID cards.
The IDEAS 2018 Exhibition
IDEAS 2018, the 10th International Defence Exhibition and Seminar, will be attended by 262 high level delegations from 51 countries, officials of the Defence Export Promotion Organization (DEPO) briefed on Saturday.
Pakistan, Russia, China, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Jordon, Poland, South Korea, Turkey, UAE, Ukraine, and US are among the participants of the expo.
IDEAS 2018 has surpassed all previous milestones in terms of space, booking, exhibitors and delegates – domestic and foreigners, and Karachi Expo Centre has been booked to its full capacity with 522 exhibitors from 50 countries, including Pakistan.
Brigadier Waheed Mumtaz, director coordination, Commodore Tariq Mahmood, Air Commodore Tahir Anwar, Brig Ali Ammar Haider from DEPO, Brig Abid Ali Askari, DIGP Traffic East, Javed Ali Mahar, and Zohair Naseer, chief operating officer, Badar Expo Solutions were also present during the briefing.
The first two days of IDEAS 2018 have been earmarked for delegations, trade visitors and networking activities.
The other highlights of the day include an international seminar on emerging global and regional environment and the role of grey hybrid warfare there in; Pakistan’s perspective. Renowned national and international subject matter experts will present their scholarly papers on the topic.
Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Zubair Mahmood Hayat NI(m) will be the main speaker.
Another significance of IDEAS 2018 is the holding of exclusive land, maritime and aviation conferences by Pakistan Army, Navy and Air Force respectively which will be hosted by respective service chiefs.
General public will be allowed on the fourth day of the exhibition, Nov 30.
