A devastating incident unfolded in District Washuk as a passenger bus tragically fell into a deep ravine on Wednesday, resulting in the loss of at least 28 lives, including women and children. Additionally, 20 individuals sustained injuries in this harrowing accident.
The Assistant Commissioner of Washuk, Basima Ismail Mengal, reported that the injured have been promptly transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention. The Civil Hospital Basima received the injured and deceased, where they are currently undergoing treatment and identification processes, respectively.
According to officials from Levies, the ill-fated bus was carrying 48 passengers, including the driver and two conductors. Following initial medical aid, the injured will be transferred to Quetta for further treatment, while the deceased’s families await identification and closure.
The cause of this tragic accident has been attributed to high speed, as stated by AC Basima Ismail Mengal. The bus was en route from Turbat to Quetta when the calamity struck, highlighting the importance of adherence to safety measures on such routes.
In response to this heart-wrenching event, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi expressed profound sorrow and grief over the loss of lives. He conveyed his deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and prayed for the swift recovery of the injured.
