As Eidul-Azha approaches, the Sindh government is taking strong measures to curb excessive fare charges by transporters and operators. Beginning Monday, June 10, a dedicated campaign will enforced to ensure fair pricing for passengers traveling to celebrate with their families.
This initiative spearheaded by Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, emphasizes the government’s commitment to providing relief to the public. The Sindh Transport Department has issued clear directives for stringent action against any transport service charging more than the official fares.
The Sindh Transport Department has formally addressed a letter to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh, alongside all commissioners, DIGs, and DCs. This communication outlines the department’s zero-tolerance policy against fare gouging during the festive period.
Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon stated, “We are resolute in our efforts to alleviate any burdens on the public, especially during times of celebration. Any transporter or operator found imposing unjust fares will face severe penalties.”
The campaign’s primary goal is to safeguard passengers from overcharged as they plan their travels for Eidul-Azha. Authorities instructed to act swiftly on any complaints regarding fare discrepancies. This includes monitoring and penalizing any transport service that deviates from the regulated fare structure.
Minister Memon emphasized that the government’s actions designed to prevent unnecessary financial strain on passengers. He urged citizens to report any instances of fare overcharging promptly to the concerned authorities.
