PARACHINAR: Tribespeople in Kurram Agency celebrated after the KP-FATA merger bill was approved from National Assembly and Senate.
The bill that approves the merger of Federally Administered Tribal Areas and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was passed from the senate today. The bill will make development possible along with implementation of proper law after the long reigning destruction and lawlessness of the state.
The tribal people celebrated the merger bill at Parachinar press club, where they said they have achieved freedom in the Holy Month of Ramadan, just like Pakistan had won freedom in the same month.
Senator Sajjad Turi said that the merger is not only inclusion of FATA in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but it also means development of the northwestern region.
Other leaders who were at the press conference to celebrate the KP-FATA merger bill’s approval believed that tactics made to make tribal people suffer more through deprivation of rights had failed with passage of the bill.
On Thursday, the merger bill was approved by the National Assembly by over two-third majority. Opposition was in full attendance on the session and voted in favor of the amendment bill.
The approval also means FATA reforms which have long been promised by the government.
