The 981st annual Urs of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh (RA) is set to be observed on Monday, August 26, 2024. The Lahore High Court has declared a holiday for the courts to honor this important religious event. The Urs of Hazrat Ali Hajveri, a significant occasion for many, will see the Data Darbar beautifully illuminated for the three-day celebrations.
Despite the court’s holiday announcement, the Punjab government has not yet confirmed a public holiday for this year’s Urs. Last year, a public holiday was declared on September 7 for the 980th Urs, with the announcement coming in early September. Given this precedent, there is anticipation that a similar holiday will be declared this year, possibly around August 24.
If a public holiday is announced, all educational institutions, including schools, colleges, and universities in Lahore, will be closed on August 26. The upcoming Urs holiday in Lahore 2024 is expected to be a time of significant religious observance and reflection.
