The US Embassy in Pakistan has reduced wait times for various visa appointments. An embassy spokesperson revealed that the wait time reduced from 440 days to 230 days. This change aims to streamline the visa process for Pakistani applicants, especially for student, business, and family reunion visas.
The embassy is working hard to manage the increased demand and help as many applicants as possible. The reduction in wait times reflects a shift in how the embassy handles the visa processing backlog, particularly for student visas. Currently, about 10,000 visa applications processed each month, with a special focus on students. This effort highlights the embassy’s dedication to supporting educational opportunities for Pakistani students.
For applicants who have already submitted their visa applications, the embassy now offers case reviews via email. Each application reviewed individually, and decisions typically made within three to four working days after the interview.
Regarding fees, the embassy confirmed that only the standard application fee charged, which aligns with the global US visa application charges.
The spokesperson also noted that the past year saw the highest number of visa applications the embassy has ever managed, showing a growing interest in US visas among Pakistanis.
