Supreme Court of Pakistan suspended Lahore High Court’s decision for vote recount in Na-131.
CJP Saqib Nisar of Supreme Court ordered LHC to suspend vote recount in NA-131 Lahore. However, Saad Rafique challenged the victory of Imran Khan after Pakistan Election 2018 and asked for recounting in whole constituency. However, Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan submitted plea against the LHC’s ruling for hearing.
During the hearing, Saqib Nisar said that NA-131 result already declared. However, PML-N leader Saad Rafique’s counsel said that a recount request is valid if the margin of votes is less than 5%. However, apex court suspended vote recount in NA-131 and accepted Imran Khan’s request for hearing.
Yesterday, Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) also withheld the Imran Khan’s victory notification from NA-131. However, Khawaja Saad Rafique lost the General Election 2018 from a thin margin of 680 votes. His rival and PTI chief Imran Khan got 84,313 votes while he obtained 83,633 votes from NA-131 Lahore.
