On August 17, CJP Saqib Nisar allowed voter registration of overseas Pakistanis to cast their votes in by-elections 2018.
The court took the decision on the petition of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf Imran Khan and others. CJP Saqib Nisar ordered Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to make required arrangements so overseas Pakistanis can easily cast vote.
CJP Saqib Nisar elaborated that overseas Pakistanis will participate in by-elections through i-voting. However, it is a system that allows voters to cast vote from a computer with an internet connection. Saqib Nisar further added that in case of any conflict, votes cast through i-voting will be separated.
