Water is a Red Line for Pakistan, Says Field Marshal Asim Munir

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has declared that water is a red line for Pakistan, affirming that the basic right of 240 million Pakistanis to water will not compromised under any circumstances.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief made these remarks during an important meeting with vice-chancellors, principals, and senior professors from various universities. He emphasized the key role of educators in shaping the country’s future, stating that teachers are the greatest national asset. “Whatever I am today, I owe to my parents and my teachers,” he added.

Field Marshal Munir stressed the importance of passing on the truth about Pakistan’s history and identity to future generations, stating, “In our struggle for truth, Allah has supported Pakistan at every step.”

He highlighted national unity as the foundation of strength, noting that when a nation stands united, no external force can defeat it. On the Kashmir issue, he said there could be no compromise, calling it an inalienable part of Pakistan’s identity. “India must understand — Pakistan will never abandon Kashmir,” he asserted.

The army chief also reaffirmed Pakistan’s rejection of Indian hegemony and said that efforts to suppress the Kashmir cause have failed, with the issue remaining alive both morally and internationally.

Commenting on internal unrest in India, he said terrorism there rooted in oppression and discrimination, especially against Muslims. He also reiterated that terrorism in Balochistan Indian-sponsored and that such elements do not represent the Baloch people.

On governance, he called for all institutions to function within the Constitution and law, free from political interference. “Anyone attempting to undermine the state’s narrative must resolutely countered,” he concluded.

The statement reflects a strong reaffirmation of Pakistan’s national priorities, its stance on water and Kashmir, and its resolve to maintain internal unity and sovereignty.
