As winter approaches, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has announced a new gas supply schedule to tackle shortages and low pressure during the cold months. This step aims to ensure an uninterrupted gas supply to millions of customers across Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and other regions in Pakistan.
According to the schedule, gas will be available in three specific time slots:
- 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM: To cater to morning meal preparations and heating needs.
- 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM: For midday cooking and heating.
- 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM: To facilitate evening meal preparations.
These timings are designed to help domestic consumers plan daily activities like cooking and heating during the colder season. Officials from SNGPL assured that gas would be supplied at full pressure during these periods to meet household demands.
The revised schedule aligns with government directives to address the significant rise in gas consumption during winter. With increased usage of heaters, boilers, and cooking appliances, the demand for gas spikes as people combat shorter days and colder nights. Poor insulation in homes further adds to this seasonal surge.
While the three-time-slot system ensures some relief, consumers are urged to use gas responsibly to avoid unnecessary wastage. For many households, adapting to this routine will be crucial for managing their daily needs during the winter months.
