The chief justice of IHC or Islamabad High Court heard the Asif Ali Zardari disqualification plea on Tuesday (today).
During the Asif Zardari disqualification petition hearing, IHC CJ Justice Athar Minallah told petitioners Khurram Sher Zaman and leaders Usman Dar that political fights should be fought in the Parliament or other related forums.
Justice Athar Minallah said that they should satisfy the court. He further added that it is the case of public nature and court should also be satisfied regarding why the court should hear the petition on urgent basis.
The disqualification case was filed under Article 62(1)(f) that has been filed on basis of documents that are verified.
However, Usman Dar’s counsel said that Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is not the appropriate forum for the disqualification under Article 62(1)(f). He said that they have SHC or Sindh High Court order which elaborates that ECP is not the authorized forum in that case.
