Zardari’s Aide and Banker Hussain Lawai Arrested by FIA, Sources

Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested Hussain Lawai who is considered as the close companion of Asif Ali Zardari.

FIA arrested Hussain Lawai, who is the ex-head of Summit Bank and close Aide of former President Asif Ali Zardari. In June 2018, FIA stopped him from leaving the country from Jinnah International Airport Karachi. However, he was accused of having connection with suspicious bank transaction of worth billions of Pakistani Rupees.

At that time, FIA revealed that Hussain Lawai allowed to go home. He was ordered that he should appear later to record his statement in accordance with the inquiry.


Hussain Lawai has more than 40 years of experience in the banking industry. He worked as the President and CEO of Summit Bank Limited from November 2008 to February 2016. In addition, he also served as the President and CEO of MCB Bank and Atlas Bank. He also served as the country general manager of Union Bank of Middle East and Faysal Islamic Bank.
