The Australian regulator revealed that the Samsung water resistant phone ads are misleading customers.

Samsung water resistant phone ads are deceptive as they are misleading the smartphone users. Australian Competition and Consumer Commission or ACCC now sued Samsung Electronics Co Ltd’s Australian unit for misguiding customers. However, the smartphone manufacturer is promoting Samsung Galaxy Mobiles as suitable to use in swimming pools and the surf.

The ACCC lawsuit further reveals that Samsung didn’t or sufficiently test the effects of swimming pool water or saltwater exposure on its mobile phones when advertisements showed them fully submerged. However, it is a first case that is filed by the major regulator and can result in the multi-million dollar fines.

ACCC Chairman Rod Sims said that they alleges Samsung Mobile’s ads misleadingly and deceptively showed Samsung Galaxy mobiles will be suitable for use in, or for exposure to, all types of water … when this was not the case.
