Skype Redesign: Colorful New Update Rolls out for PC and Mobile

We all have used Skype sometime or another in our lifetimes, now there is a colorful Skype redesign available. Despite the fact that substitutes such as Facebook and WhatsApp took its place, making it more or less irrelevant. Even Zoom made it big in the Coronavirus Pandemic, making sure our meetings go as scheduled. But Microsoft has not yet given up on its two decades old flagship communications tool Skype yet. It recently released a redesigned version of the Application for Desktop, Windows, Android, and iOS.

It wasnt that Skype was unavailable for a while, most of us just stopped using it after having no need. While Microsoft frequently rolls out updates and adds feature to the Voice/Video calling, and chatting software. Now view on Skype gets new color themes and layouts to allow for customization. Users can choose between a speaker view, a grid view, a large gallery, Together Mode, and a content view. It’s worth noting that Skype already has animated backgrounds, Together Mode, call recordings, and live subtitles.

Skype redesign also introduces Meet Now, which allows people to join calls without signing up or installing the app. Invitees will now see the name and avatar of your call when they click on an invitation link. According to the service, it will soon support all browsers. You can now use Office Lens on the Skype mobile app to share scanned documents, photos and videos. TwinCam, a new feature, allows you to add a video feed from a second device to your call. This could be useful if you want to show off your pet or allow students to see both your textbook and your face. To get started, simply scan a QR code with your iOS or Android device.

Furthermore, Skype is working on improving performance. It claims to have improved performance “in key scenarios” by nearly a third on the desktop app and over 2,000% on Android. Custom notification sounds are also new or on the way, as is an updated reactions window that allows you to respond more quickly by searching for or using pinned reactions. What you think about Skype Redesign? Is it going to find a place between so much Apps that serves the very same purpose? And are you going to switch to it for calling and chatting?
