Twitter Inc blocked more than 70 million accounts in just two months.

According to the latest report, Twitter suspended over 70 million accounts in May and June 2018. However, more than one million accounts per day were blocked in two months to prevent the spreading of false information.

Company’s vice president for trust and safety, Del Harvey, said that the recent crackdown won’t impact the fair active users. However, the removal of several unwanted accounts may cause the decline in the number of monthly users in 2nd quarter.


Twitter earlier revealed that they’re strictly dealing with spam and new accounts will be confirmed through email or phone number. The company revealed that it will help them to effectively deal with automated bots. However, accounts based on automated bot usually involved in abusing, trolling, and the promotion of hateful content.
