Facebook deletes accounts aimed for politically influencing the US Midterm Election 2018. In addition, they explored the possible link to Russia.
Nathaniel Gleicher, head of cybersecurity policy, revealed the news in his social media post. He said that they have continued to probe, they detected and removed some more Instagram and Facebook accounts.
On the evening of the US Midterm Election, Facebook said that they blocked around 30 accounts on their platform while 85 more on Instagram. Yesterday, accounts deleted for coordinated inauthentic behavior was increased to 99 at Instagram and 36 at Facebook.
The majority of accounts were created after the middle of year 2017. Facebook pages had attracted a total of approximately 65,000 followers in total. However, Instagram accounts had over 1.25 million followers, with 600,000 of them located in the United States.
