LAHORE: British-Pakistani boxer Amir Khan arrived in Lahore to be a part of the closing ceremony of the Inter-Division Punjab Open Boxing Championship.
Amir Khan and his wife Faryal Makhdoom will be chief guests at the closing ceremony. They will be participating in prize distribution to the winners.
Punjab sports board chairman Jahangir Khanzada addressed a press conference at National Hockey Stadium. He announced that Amir Khan would be attending the closing ceremony of the tournament. This event could be the great source of encouragement for young boxers.
Amir Khan was warmly received at the airport by Jahangir Khanzada and director of sports Anees Sheikh.
The closing ceremony of the event will take place tonight at the Nishtar Park Sports Complex Gymnasium Hall.
According to Amir Khan, he had come to Pakistan to work on the development of boxing in the country.
Before leaving for Pakistan, Amir Khan was talking to media in London where he said that Pakistan is undoubtedly a heaven for investors. He also showed interest in establishing many training academies for boxing in Gwadar and other cities of Pakistan.
Amir Khan also said that he will be working with leading real estate developer CPIC to achieve this purpose.
