Fakhar Zaman has successfully progressed to number two ranking in the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) T20I player rankings for batsmen after Pakistan’s win on Sunday.
Since his century in ICC Champions Trophy final against India last year, he gained immense appreciation and was in spotlight for all the right reasons.
Fakhar Zaman played remarkable innings against Australia in Tri-nation T20 series on Sunday. Fakhar Zaman smashed 91 runs on 46 balls which proved to be a match winning knock as Pakistan chased Aussies’ 188-run target with four balls and six wickets to spare.
Overall, Fakhar Zaman scored an astounding 278 run in five innings in the Zimbabwe-hosted tournament at an average of 55-6 — in T20 cricket.
Fakhar Zaman’s incredible performance is appreciated in his latest T20 men batsmen ranking given by ICC, that listed him on second spot just behind Australian captain Aaron Finch. Fakhar Zaman now has 842 rating points — just 49 less than Finch’s tally.
Fakhar Zaman ranking has pushed India’s Lokesh Rahul to number three, who was previously number two.
Also among the casualties of Zaman’s rise is his teammate Babar Azam, who is currently inactive owing to a forearm injury he suffered in March during the tour of England.
On the other hand, spin star Shadab Khan continues to occupy the second spot in the T20I ratings for bowlers.
Elsewhere, Babar Azam is number two in the ODI rankings for batsmen, behind Indian captain Virat Kohli only. Pacer Hasan Ali is number three in the 50-over rankings for bowlers, whereas Mohammad Hafeez is number two in the all-rounder lists.
Unfortunately, no Pakistani player is able to grab ranking among the top five in any of the Test cricket rankings.
