Kuala Lumpur: India will not be able to host Asia Cup as it traditionally does, it will be held at U.A.E. instead. The raised tensions between the two countries of Pakistan and India seem to have not only political consequences but it has even effected the sports of the countries. With security risk to Pakistani cricket team in India, in the Asian Cricket Council meeting at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, it was decided that the series will be held at UAE instead.
Details of the ACC Meeting for Asia Cup
The Asian Cricket Council meeting was held in the leadership of Najam Sethi where some important decisions were made one of which was that India would not be honored with hosting the Asian Cup this time around as it traditionally does. The decision came after an objection was raised by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) over the security of its cricket team, as both the countries seem to have tensed relationship over matters, so the Asia Cup would be held in the United Arab Emirates instead. Secondly Pakistan would have the honor hosting the Asian Cricket Council general meeting as well which will be arranged in the capital of Punjab, Lahore. And finally the last decision that was made was that the Asia Emerging Cup that was scheduled to happen in Pakistan will happen in December instead and the matches will be played in both Pakistan and Sri Lanka this year. The impact of PSL to international cricket in Pakistan has been tremendous and it seems that after the recent West Indies tour, Pakistan will have a better year in cricket.
