Islamabad is set to get its first dedicated cricket stadium. The new Islamabad cricket stadium near Sector D‑12 will host international and domestic matches with a seating capacity of 32,000. Parking, modern design, and revenue sharing make it a joint CDA-PCB project. Construction could finish within two years.
New Islamabad Cricket Stadium Location and Design
The new Islamabad cricket stadium location in D‑12 was selected after the previous Shakarparian site was cancelled due to legal restrictions. The stadium will follow a “Dubai-style” design, with seating for 32,000 people and open sightlines to the Margalla Hills.
A parking facility for 10,000 vehicles will be built about one kilometre away to reduce congestion. Officials confirmed that safety, accessibility, and crowd management are priorities.
Islamabad Cricket Stadium Capacity and Features
The stadium’s seating capacity of 32,000 will allow large-scale domestic and international matches. The PCB will complete the project in five years, while CDA provides 280 kanals of land on a 99-year lease. Revenue sharing will give 70% to PCB and 30% to CDA.
Islamabad Cricket Stadium Completion Date and Timeline
The next approval meeting and tender may result in the project beginning shortly. The completion of the Islamabad cricket stadium is projected to be within two years. The stadium is also meant to offload Rawalpindi Stadium and minimize traffic congestion as well as offer a world class stadium in the twin cities.
The new Islamabad cricket stadium is set to be a sports milestone in the capital, which combines with modern amenities and strategic location to host international events.
