Mohammad Amir Announces International Cricket Retirement After Feeling Ignored by the PCB? Read Details!

Former Pakistani fast bowler Mohammad Amir announces international cricket retirement after feeling ignored by the PCB, citing a lack of communication and clarity following the 2024 T20 World Cup. Amir, who had previously reversed his retirement to represent Pakistan in the World Cup, expressed deep disappointment with how things unfolded after the tournament.

Mohammad Amir Retirement Reasons: Felt Sidelined by Team Management

In a recent interview, Amir opened up about the real reasons behind his retirement, stating, “After the T20 World Cup, no one reached out to me. I wasn’t told whether I was in the future plans or not. A wise person understands when he’s not wanted.”

The left-arm pacer, who had earlier stepped away from international cricket in 2020 due to differences with former coaches Misbah-ul-Haq and Waqar Younis, said he returned only because the PCB personally requested his services for the 2024 World Cup.

“I even rejected a county cricket deal to play for Pakistan. But I ended up spending more money than I earned. I paid for my trainer and all the travel,” Amir revealed, expressing frustration over how things were handled behind the scenes.

Amir Eyeing IPL 2026 After PSL 2025 Stint

Currently representing Quetta Gladiators in PSL 2025, Amir shared his eagerness to feature in the Indian Premier League (IPL) if given the chance.

“If I get picked in IPL, I’ll definitely play. But if PSL happens first and I’m selected, I can’t pull out. It all depends on which league I get picked in first.”

Amir’s statement has already sparked interest, especially among cricket fans curious about a possible IPL debut for Mohammad Amir in 2026.
