Mohammad Rizwan Breaks Silence: “Cricket Should Stay Away from Politics”

Multan Sultans captain Mohammad Rizwan recently shared his views on cricket, pressure, and current issues during a media talk in Lahore. He emphasized that “cricket should remain free from politics” and stated, “I don’t know what’s happening between Pakistan and India, I don’t use social media.”

Mohammad Rizwan on Cricket and International Players

Rizwan highlighted the sportsmanship and brotherhood in international cricket, stating, “When we meet players like Virat Kohli and Joe Root, we interact like a cricket family. We learn from them, and they learn from us.”

Rizwan Reflects on Multan Sultans’ Performance

Addressing Multan Sultans’ exit from the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Rizwan accepted responsibility, saying, “We deserved to be out. Mistakes were made, especially in fielding, and we couldn’t gain momentum.”
He also mentioned that team selection is always based on match conditions, and most teams opted for spinners this season.

Pressure on Mohammad Rizwan as Captain

The star wicketkeeper-batsman acknowledged the immense pressure of leading both the national team and a PSL franchise:
“It would be a lie to say there’s no pressure. As captain of Pakistan and Multan, expectations are high, and we must face the pressure and work on our mistakes.”

On Modern Cricket and Playing Conditions

Rizwan also touched upon the challenges of adapting to different formats, noting, “People say we should play modern-day cricket, but sometimes T20 matches feel like Test cricket due to conditions. Even scoring 120 became difficult in the T20 World Cup.”

Comments on Other PSL Teams

Sharing his views on other franchises, Rizwan praised Lahore Qalandars’ energy and Quetta Gladiators’ momentum. He added that Karachi Kings and Islamabad United have built very strong teams.

Rizwan Sends Prayers for Babar Azam and Peshawar Zalmi

In response to a question, he said, “Peshawar Zalmi and Babar Azam need our prayers. I’ll pray for them. If we had taken our catches, we wouldn’t be in this situation today.”
