National Bank Cricket Stadium in Karachi, formerly known as the National Stadium, is undergoing significant upgrades. This renovation project has gained speed, especially with the upcoming Champions Trophy on the horizon. The approved plan reveals that the new construction will include a modern dressing room for players.
The renovation involves the replacement of the old scoreboard building with a five-story structure, which will also incorporate two demolished enclosures. This phase of the project is set to be completed before the Champions Trophy 2025, with Karachi hosting three Test matches during the tournament.
As part of the project, the second Test match against Bangladesh will take place without any spectators. Construction will pause during the match hours to accommodate this. The next phase will see the renovation of all the stadium’s enclosures, featuring a sleek Teflon design.
In the final phase of this ambitious plan, the main building of the stadium will be demolished to make way for a new, modern structure. These renovations are part of the preparations to ensure the stadium meets international standards for the upcoming cricket events.
