Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami has finally addressed the fake news about his alleged marriage to tennis player Sania Mirza. The rumors began a month ago when doctored photos of Shami and Mirza surfaced on social media, accompanied by misleading reports from various media outlets.
Sania Mirza’s father, Imran Mirza, swiftly dismissed the rumors, stating that Sania and Shami had never even met. “All of this is garbage. She hasn’t even met him,” Imran Mirza told journalists on June 21.
Despite the denial, several prominent Indian publications like Masala, Times Now, and Zoom continued to report that Sania and Shami were planning to marry on August 20, 2024.
Shami found it bizarre to see his picture with someone he had never met. He expressed his concern about the impact of such false news, emphasizing that while memes can be fun, they should not harm someone’s life. He criticized people for sharing unverified news and urged them to use verified sources.
“If you have the guts, then speak from verified pages, then I will tell you,” Shami challenged those spreading the rumors.
He advised online trolls to work hard, achieve success, and help others before making judgments about others. This fake news incident highlights the importance of verifying information before sharing it, especially when it concerns someone’s personal life.
