BJP leader Sangeet Som has slammed Shah Rukh Khan for buying Bangladeshi fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman for his IPL team, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

Som, a former member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, called Khan a “traitor” for the signing. He said it sends the wrong message while Hindus in Bangladesh face violence.

Speaking at a public event in Meerut, Som said buying Rahman for ₹9 crore is unacceptable. He claimed that “traitors” like Khan have no right to live in India.

Addressing Shah Rukh Khan directly, Som said the actor owes his success to India. He added that any money Khan earns comes from the country. By spending on a Bangladeshi player, he has allegedly betrayed the nation.

Som also warned that players like Mustafizur Rahman IPL 2026 auctioned for ₹9.2 crore on December 16 may face restrictions if they arrive in India for matches. He claimed they “won’t be able to step outside the airport.”

The controversy highlights how cricket signings can spark political debate. Some leaders are calling for bans on Bangladeshi players in the IPL. Others argue that Khan’s decision is within legal and sporting norms.
