FIFA World Cup 2018: Japan Qualified for Last 16 Despite of Defeat


Russia: Japan made their place in next round of FIFA World Cup 2018 despite their defeat against Poland.

In Group H match of FIFA World Cup 2018, Poland defeat Japan by 1-0. Jan Badnarek from Poland scored the only goal of match. However, his team came on fourth position in Group H.

In another Group H match, Colombia beat Senegal by 1-0. Yerry Mina from Colombia scored the winning goal for Colombia and assisted it to top the group.

At the end, both Japan and Senegal had same points and goal difference. However, Japan qualified for the knockout round of FIFA World Cup 2018 on the basis of Fair Play Rule.

According to the rule, a team who got lesser yellow cards than its competitor qualifies for the next round. However, Japan received lesser yellow cards as compare to Senegal in FIFA World Cup 2018. Japan and Colombia will face Belgium and England in the knockout round respectively.
