France Win the FIFA World Cup 2018 With 4-2 Over Croatia

France thrashed Croatia 4-2 in the FIFA World Cup final and became World Champions for the second time at Moscow’s Luzhniki stadium on Sunday. France win came after 20 years.

French team playing their third World Cup final, faced hard time initially but they were lucky to go ahead when Croatia striker Mario Mandzukic headed an Antoine Griezmann free kick into his own net in the 18th minute, scoring the first own goal in a World Cup final.

Croatian player Ivan Perisic leveled with a powerful shot 10 minutes later. However, the Croatia midfielder was then penalized for handball following a VAR review. Griezmann of France easily converted the 38th minute penalty chance to a wonderful goal and put France 2-1.

Croatia struggled hard for an hour but gradually ran out of context after playing extra time in their three previous matches. French team’s Paul Pogba and Kylian Mbappe gave their team a three-goal advantage in the second half.

Mandzukic pounced on a mistake by French goal keeper Hugo Lloris to cut the deficit in the 69th minute. This makes it the highest-scoring final over 90 minutes in 60 years. However, Croatia could not find the chance to score a goal in their first World Cup final.

France win means that Didier Deschamps, captain of the 1998 World cup winning side, becomes the third man to win the World Cup as player and coach after Brazil´s Mario Zagallo and Germany´s Franz Beckenbauer.

France win in the final was the highest-scoring match since England beat West Germany 4-2 after extra-time in 1966, and the highest in normal time since Brazil beat Sweden 5-2 60 years ago.

Both landmarks were achieved in the first half quiet fast.
