Karachi: ICC charged Irfan Ansari for approaching skipper Sarfraz Ahmed.
Sarfraz Ahmed approached by Irfan Ansari who is a cricket organizer and the ex-employee of Sharjah Cricket Stadium. However, ICC charged Irfan under the ICC anti-corruption code. Irfan allegedly approached Sarfraz during the last year ODI series against Sri Lanka in UAE.
According to sources, Irfan Ansari tried to involve Sarfraz Ahmed in a spot-fixing. However, Sarfraz immediately reported the incident to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The incident happened at Abu Dhabi in October 2017. ICC gave him 14 days from May 19 to reply to the alleged charges.
ICC also issued a statement that Irfan Ansari breached the ICC code of conduct. ICC also charged him with three different offenses. However, Offenses come under three different articles that are:
Article 2.3.3: Tries to entice, induce, solicit, and encourage a person to breach the Article 2.3.2
Article 2.4.6: Fails to cooperate with ACU’s investigation. Fails to provide the correct and complete documentation or information in October 2017.
