National Table Tennis Team Stopped From Going to World Championship

LAHORE: Players of the national table tennis team were stopped at the airport by immigration officials on Wednesday night at Lahore airport.

Asim Qureshi, Ramiz Hussain, Aisha Iqbal, Fatima Khan, and Mahmoodah, of the national table tennis team were flying to Sweden to participate in the 2018 World Team Table Tennis Championships when they were stopped by immigration officials as well as the Federal Investigation Agency personnel.

The reasoning provided by immigration officials who stopped them on Wednesday night, according to one of the players, was that they did not have a letter of confirmation from the Ministry of Interior.

Some sources claim that due to factions inside the Pakistan Table Tennis Federation, the players were stopped from participating in the World Championship by the authorities.
