Lady Gaga is set to headline the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games this Friday, as confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter.
Speculation about other performers like Celine Dion, Dua Lipa, Ariana Grande, and Aya Nakamura has been rampant, but the full lineup remains a mystery. This buzz intensified when Gaga and Dion were seen heading to Paris ahead of the Olympics.
On Monday, videos surfaced on social media showing Lady Gaga greeting fans outside her car in Paris. The pop star has been extremely busy lately, balancing multiple projects. She’s been filming the much-anticipated Joker sequel, “Folie à Deux,” with Joaquin Phoenix and performing her Las Vegas residency show, “Enigma + Jazz & Piano.”
In 2022, she also embarked on a global concert tour, The Chromatica Ball, to support her sixth studio album, Chromatica. Her performance at the Olympic opening ceremony will be her first major televised appearance since her emotional rendition of “Hold My Hand” at the 2023 Oscars.
Celine Dion is also expected to perform, paying tribute to Édith Piaf with “L’Hymne à l’amour.” This will be her first performance since revealing her Stiff Person Syndrome diagnosis and canceling her tour.
The much-anticipated opening ceremony will be broadcast on NBC and streamed on Peacock and NBC Olympics platforms this Friday, showcasing these two music icons.
