Third seed Del Potro, the victor in 2009, was 7-6 (7/3), 6-2 ahead when Nadal quit. Del Potro will now confront Djokovic, the 2011 and 2015 champ, who achieved his eighth last at the competition and 23rd of his Grand Slam profession with a 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 walk around Japan’s Kei Nishikori.
