Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is authenticating mobile phones through Device Identification, Registration and Blocking System (DIRBS).
How to register mobile in PTA? You need to know this as all non-compliant mobile phones will be blocked after October 20. However, PTA is also sending text messages to the mobile phone users.
For the registration of mobile phone, you need to send your IMEI number through SMS to 8484. In reply, PTA will send the confirmation message that whether or not the phone is compliant.
However, you can check the IMEI number by just dialing *#06# from your phone.
PTI leader and Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry revealed that government decided to take action against mobile phone smugglers in Pakistan.
DIRBS will automatically identify illegal, fake, sub-standard, and smuggled phones. In addition, it will later block them to use with any mobile phone network.
The number of mobile phones and mobile subscribers are continuously growing in Pakistan. A huge number of smartphones are smuggling in Pakistan through improper channels. However, analysts believe that the proper implementation of DIRBS will surely help the government to block illegal phones in Pakistan.
