At least 17 people were killed and 15 injured in an explosion in Karachis Shershah area on Saturday.
The building where the blast took place was built on a nullah. Initial investigation reports revealed that accumulation of gas inside the nullah was the primary reason of the blast.
The powerful blast severely damaged a private bank and a petrol pump. Most customers and staff at the bank were killed or injured.
The Bomb Disposal Squad said the explosion was caused by accumulation of gas in the sewerage line.
A second explosion was reported when excavators were removing debris at the blast site.
However, no loss of human life or property was reported in the second blast.
Unfortunately PTI MNA Alamgir Khans father was one of the persons to perish in this blast.
Prime Minister Imran Khan offered his condolence to the victims families.
President Arif Alvi visited the house of MNA Alamgir along with the Sindh Governor Imran Ismail and offered condolences on the demise of his father in the incident.
They prayed for the departed soul and for patience of the bereaved family.
