Coldplay concert scandal leads to major executive resignations at U.S.-based AI and data company Astronomer. CEO Andy Byron and Head of HR Kristin Cabot have stepped down following a viral video from the Coldplay concert at Gillette Stadium in Boston.
Byron and Cabot were in an intimate position in the Coldplay kiss cam video that went viral with more than 99 million views on social media and TikTok in particular. It happened July 16th, 2025 and caused an instant public reaction. The moment was further crossed by the commentary by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin in the live show, further fueling the story.
Following the video, both executives were placed on administrative leave while the board of directors launched an internal investigation. Andy Byron, who had led Astronomer since July 2023 and recently oversaw a $93 million Series D funding round, resigned on July 19. The company named co-founder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy as interim CEO and began a search for a permanent replacement.
On July 25, Astronomer confirmed that Kristin Cabot had also resigned. Cabot had joined the company in November 2024. The company stated that both departures were accepted in line with internal policies and corporate standards.
The scandal, widely known as the Coldplay concert viral video controversy, drew attention to executive behavior and workplace ethics. Media reports noted changes in social media accounts of Byron’s wife and highlighted Cabot’s marital ties to another public business figure.
Astronomer confirmed that the resignations will not impact its AI product development or data platform services. The company reiterated its commitment to corporate governance and leadership accountability. The Coldplay concert scandal continues to trend across major tech and business news platforms.
