Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) police have filed a case under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016, marking the first time this law has been used in the province for harassment and blackmailing of a transgender individual. Seven people, including a man named Imran, now face charges following a complaint from transgender activist Dolphin Ayan, who says she endured severe harassment and blackmail.
As per Dolphin Ayan, the alleged incident dates back to 2023. She claims that Imran and his accomplices kidnapped her at gunpoint and filmed an obscene video, later using it as a tool for blackmail and extortion. For Ayan, the distressing episode didn’t just stop at threats. On October 29, she found out that the Dolphin Ayan leaked video had gone viral on social media, damaging her reputation and bringing shame to her family.
